"A Team With A Heart"
The Rubber City Rollergirls are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and our mission includes giving back to the community, particularly causes that affect women and children. We do this through charitable donations, fundraisers and most special to us, our "Skate for Kids" program, which provides special skating events for homeless and other at-risk children, free of charge.
This program was born from what began as a simple idea: provide a free skating party for underprivileged kids. In November 2008 we held our "First Annual Holiday Skate for the Kids", hosting 105 children for a free evening of skating, pizza, Christmas ornament making and...fun. The positive feedback we received was tremendous, with the most common being that these children really need fun in their lives and the ability to just "be kids".
Our "Fourth Annual Holiday Skate for the Kids" took place on January 18, 2012. 2012, and as we continue to develop the Skate for Kids Program, the Rubber City Rollergirls plan to add even more free skating events for underprivileged kids throughout the year.
A big "Thank You" to Rubber City Pizza for partnering with us to provide pizza to the families who attended our most recent event!
